Author of more than 250 scientific papers, 4 monographs, 8 inventions in the field of abdominal surgery. 

V. A. Bakhtin developed and implemented through drains in the treatment of patients with high mechanical jaundice, proposed a method for removing bile from obstructing tumors located in the liver gate, developed and implemented an invagination suture on transhepatic drainage when creating biliodigistive anastomoses during operations on the biliary tract, developed and implemented a device for clamping the hepatic duodenal ligament of the liver, developed and implemented a method treatment of patients with liquid formations of the retroperitoneal space on the background of acute pancreatitis with pancreatic necrosis.

Research interests: surgery of the liver, extrahepatic biliary tract and pancreas.
