Students of the Faculty of Foreign Students at Kirov State Medical University took part in the International Educational Campaign "Interethnic Dictation." The event was held at the Kirov Regional Scientific Library named after A.I. Herzen. Initiated by Elena Sharapova, Head of the Department of International Relations, and supervised by Associate Professors Anna Komarova and Svetlana Timina of the Department of Russian Language and Intercultural Communication, future physicians from Bangladesh, Egypt, India, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia joined the large-scale project. Alongside our foreign students, representatives of Vyatka State University and the Kirov branch of the Moscow Finance and Law Academy also wrote the dictation.
The annual campaign traditionally combines language learning with exposure to Russian literature. This time, the dictation was dedicated to the 135th anniversary of Mikhail Bulgakov's birth, and the assignment material was a fragment from the novel "The Master and Margarita." Before the work began, Marina Zakharchenko, Director General of the All-Russian State Library for Foreign Literature named after M.I. Rudomino, addressed the attendees via video message. She spoke about the difficulties of translating this work into various languages of the world. Participants also viewed a thematic book exhibition prepared by staff of the Foreign Literature Department.
Completing the assignments required the international students of Kirov State Medical University to demonstrate not only knowledge of Russian vocabulary but also broad linguistic and cultural erudition. All participants successfully handled the challenge and received certificates of participation. The results of the educational campaign have already been published on the official website of the Library named after A.I. Herzen.
