A graduate of the Kirov SMU from Bangladesh at the World Youth Festival

Islam Md Ariful, a graduate of the Faculty of Foreign Students at the Kirov State Medical University, represented Bangladesh at the World Festival of Youth and Students, which was held in Yekaterinburg from 11 to 17 September 2026. Currently, Islam has begun his residency training in cardiology and is studying under a quota granted by the Government of the Russian Federation.
One of the most memorable moments for Islam at the festival was the meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova. On 16 September, Sergey Lavrov delivered a keynote speech: he spoke about foreign policy, the role Russia sees in uniting young people from different countries, and the responsibility of the new generation to build a fair, multipolar world.
The festival organisers fully covered the costs for Islam’s participation; this opportunity was a major step and an important experience for him.
Islam himself shared his impressions: “It was an incredible honor for me to represent Bangladesh on such a global platform. Meeting with Mr. Lavrov and Ms. Zakharova was truly inspiring. Their thoughts on international cooperation and the role of youth in shaping the future reminded me why such events are necessary. As a doctor from Bangladesh who is studying in Russia, I was proud to be among thousands of young leaders from 191 countries. The festival showed: Despite all the differences, we share the same dreams – of peace, progress, and a better future. I am sincerely grateful to the Kirov State Medical University and Russia for this opportunity."
