On 28 April, the Faculty of Foreign Students and Department for International Relations together with Lyudmila Shmakova, Dean of the Faculty of Social Economics, held an information and consultation seminar dedicated to World Consumer Rights Day.
The event featured presentations from Senior Police Lieutenant Anastasia Russkikh, an operative from the Department for Combating the Illegal Use of Information and Communication Technologies at the Police of Kirov Region, and Andrey Zembekov, Head of the Visual Control Information and Analytical Support Sector at the Bank of Russia's Kirov branch.
The experts spoke to students about countering new threats related to cyber fraud and discussed psychological schemes aimed at drawing individuals into financial traps. Special attention was given to the "dropping" (money mule) scheme, with the speakers explaining its mechanics and potential consequences.
The second part of the seminar focused on visa-related matters. Dmitry Kolesnikov, Deputy Head of the Migration Department at the Police of Kirov Region, and Eleonora Pavlenko, a leading specialist in citizenship issues, reminded international students about the rules for legal stay in the Russian Federation and addressed several current migration questions.
Participants received practical recommendations that may help them avoid financial and migration difficulties while staying in Russia.
