Open Day at Kirov State Medical University

      On 5 April, Kirov State Medical University held an open day. Future applicants and their parents met with representatives of the university administration, the First Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Kirov Region D. A. Kurdyumov, the Minister of Healthcare of the Kirov Region E. E. Vidyakina, deans of faculties, the executive secretary of the admissions committee, the head of the pre-university training center, leading teachers, specialists and student volunteers.

      The guests were welcomed by the rector of Kirov State Medical University, Professor L. M. Zheleznov, who expressed his joy at seeing future applicants and their parents within the university walls, noting that over 3500 students from 37 countries study at Kirov SMU, that the university recently turned 39, and that its graduates are in demand both in Russia and abroad. First Deputy Chairman of the Regional Government D. A. Kurdyumov, for whom Kirov SMU is his alma mater, emphasised that the university is chosen for the quality of knowledge and clinical training, and spoke about changes in the healthcare system and the introduction of a mentoring institute. Minister of Healthcare E. E. Vidyakina explained the mechanism of admission under the target quota, informed about submitting applications on the "Work in Russia" portal, and highlighted various social support measures for future doctors.

      The deans introduced applicants to educational programs, traditions, and employment opportunities, while schoolchildren, parents, and anyone wishing to connect their professional lives with medicine could learn about the specifics of the 2026 admissions campaign, student life, and the work of the pre-university training center. Excursions to university departments were organized for guests, allowing future applicants to become familiar with the infrastructure and features of studying at Kirov SMU.

      At career guidance venues, all comers could participate in quizzes, immerse themselves in the practical side of the future medical profession, learn to apply surgical sutures, check dental health, provide first aid, learn the basics of intravenous injections, work on medical simulators, visit university museums, and learn about the activities of student teams.
