On 4 March, World Obesity Day, the Department of Biochemistry organiыed a round table for students of the Faculty of Foreign Students. The meeting took place in the format of a scientific and educational discussion titled "Why Is It Important to Share Lunch with a Friend, and Dinner with an Enemy?"
The participants discussed important questions about health and nutrition: Is there a magic diet or pill that will help you lose weight without much effort? Why is a regular eating schedule so important? How do habits influence excess weight accumulation-especially at a young age? Special attention was paid to the main methods of obesity prevention.
During the round table, it was noted that a person's biological activity occurs during daylight hours, while in the second half of the day, the body switches to an energy-saving mode. Stress and irregular eating disrupt this balance-and the body begins to store reserves. According to the WHO, 1,000,000 people are already overweight, and by 2050, obesity may affect 60% of the world's population.
In the course of the discussion, students not only learned about the scientific aspects of the problem but also shared personal experiences, discussed simple steps toward a healthy lifestyle and ways to develop healthy eating habits. The event helped to broaden the perspective on obesity-as a global challenge of our time that requires attention and a conscious approach to human health.
