On 5 February, the Department of Internal Medicine hosted a vibrant event celebrating the diversity of national cultures titled "We Are Different, but We Are United," as part of the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia.
Students from Egypt, Haiti, Zimbabwe, Kazakhstan, and Russia came together to share the state symbols, national holidays, customs, cultural traditions, and culinary preferences of their homelands. A particularly delightful and unexpected moment was the performance of the Haitian national anthem by students from Haiti. The gathering continued with a presentation of traditional musical instruments and a tasting of authentic dishes, including beshbarmak, podkogolio, blini, and herring under a fur coat.
The event celebrated a lively exchange as international students enthusiastically joined their Russian peers in learning the dance moves to "Kalinka-Malinka," participating in a traditional circle dance, and moving through the steps of "Rucheyok." This occasion served as a powerful testament to how shared creativity and mutual respect for diverse traditions can unite people, building a strong atmosphere of understanding and unity.
