A group of Indian students of the Faculty of Foreign Studies visited the University Museum on 19 February. The excursion was organised by the Department of Hominal Physiology together with the Department of Management and Commodity Science.
The head of the museum N. V. Korotkov told the students about the history of Kirov State Medical University, which is the youngest medical university in Russia. He spoke about its founder, the first rector, Academician V. A. Zhuravlev, and the early years of the institution. During the visit, the students had the chance to compare the treatment methods of Russian and Indian medical schools. They discussed both traditional and non-traditional approaches, noting differences and similarities between the two countries.
Professor E. N. Sizova, the group's supervising teacher, held a quiz for the students called "I know and am proud of the history of my native Alma mater - Kirov State Medical University." The students answered questions about the university's history and showed interest in learning more about their new academic home.
At the end of the excursion, the students examined a collection of surgical instruments from the 19th and 20th centuries. Many of them took photos with the old tools. Before leaving, the group wrote a collective message in the book of reviews, ending with the word "Namaste."
