Students from our university took part in the Literary Ethnoday event "Shared Readings in Vyatka," organized by the House of Friendship of Peoples. The event was dedicated to International Mother Language Day, celebrated worldwide on 21 February.
Guided by Associate Professors of the Department of Russian Language and Intercultural Communication, A. I. Bardovskaya and A. N. Komarova, students from Angola, India, Cameroon, Sudan, Tatarstan, and Uganda prepared presentations and recited poems by famous poets, as well as their own original works in their native languages. The poems explored themes of homeland, love, freedom, independence, honor, and dignity.
Ilnara Shaygatarova, a student from the Pediatric Faculty, recited "The Water Woman" by Gabdulla Tukay in her native Tatar language. This classic fairy tale, based on Tatar mythology, explores questions of honesty and morality.
Additionally, all participants had the opportunity to learn about the national costumes, songs, and dances of the peoples neighboring the Vyatka region, including the Komi-Permyaks, Udmurts, and Mari. They also took part in workshops on creating Udmurt patterns and making cards in the style of Russian calligraphy. The organizers emphasized the great importance of the Russian language as a means of communication for all peoples living in the region who are citizens of the Russian Federation.
All the readers were awarded certificates, and A. N. Komarova received a letter of gratitude from the Director of the House of Friendship of Peoples for her work in preparing the students. The event concluded with the heartfelt words: "We must not, we must not forget who we are; we are all one big family!"
