Building a Career in Russia: International Graduates of Kirov SMU Share Their Experience

      On 25 February, a meeting was held for international students studying at our university. The event was organised by the Department of Faculty Surgery with the assistance of the Faculty of Foreign Students and the Department of International Relations. It was led by the Head of the Department, E. S. Prokopyev. Participants discussed opportunities for postgraduate education and future employment in the Russian Federation. Notably, the topic proved relevant not only for final-year students but also for those in their junior years.

      I. V. Pestova, Head of the Offcie for Visa and Registration Support, provided a detailed overview of the legal and regulatory aspects concerning the stay of foreign citizens in the Russian Federation after completing their studies at Kirov State Medical University.

      Sharing their personal experiences were assistants from the Department of Faculty Surgery, Regis Kumbirai Mapedzazombe and Rumbidzai Mazanie. Both are among the first international graduates of Kirov State Medical University to have begun their professional careers at their alma mater.

      In their presentations, they spoke about the specifics of student life during their studies, their personal motivation for pursuing postgraduate education in Russia, and their choice of specialty. They explained the nuances of applying to and studying in residency programs, described how to acquire specialized practical skills and pass accreditation, and gave an overview of their current professional activities and their unique aspects.

      The presentations sparked lively interest in the audience, with students asking many questions that the speakers answered in a reasoned and comprehensive manner.
