Forming a friendly attitude towards each other, towards the relatives of patients and citizens in need of medical care is the fundamental task of every medical professional.
The staff of the Department of propaedeutics of internal and occupational diseases held an event on ethics and deontology in therapy, which was attended by students of the 2nd and 3rd courses of the specialty "General Medicine".
During the meeting, topical issues related to the observance of medical secrecy, measures of responsibility for the health and life of patients, relationships with patients and their relatives, and cooperation within the medical community were discussed. A lively discussion among future doctors was caused by problems related to the moral and ethical aspects of working with HIV-infected patients and the adverse consequences resulting from any medical intervention.
Events of this kind introduce students to the basic ethical principles that every doctor should adhere to. The fundamental postulate for them is the thesis of the ancient Greek physician and philosopher Hippocrates – Do no harm.
