World Bronchial Asthma Patient Day

Asthma is one of the most important health problems. According to WHO, approximately 262 million people suffer from this disease. Indoor and atmospheric air pollution, allergic diseases of the upper respiratory tract, poor heredity, smoking are just a few reasons why a person may develop bronchial asthma.

In order to raise public awareness of this disease, the World Bronchial Asthma Day is held annually on 11th of December.

During this day, at the Department of Hospital Therapy on the cycle "Pulmonology",Department of Department of Family Medicine and Department of Polyclinic Therapy sixth-year students of the Faculty of General Medicine and the Faculty of Foreign Students prepared colorful bulletins and booklets in Russian and English for patients with bronchial asthma, studied the technique of using inhalers, discussed with teachers the most important measures of disease prevention, and also designed thematic stands for students studying at the department. The students noted that systematic monitoring of risk factors, maintaining a healthy lifestyle and undergoing medical examinations are important measures to prevent bronchial asthma.

It should be mentioned that teaching patients how to control their disease and informing them about ways to prevent exacerbations are of great clinical importance. Such measures can reduce the incidence of complications and progression of bronchial asthma, as well as improve the quality of life of patients.
