Education: Perm State Medical University (1983), internship in the specialty "Anesthesiology. Intensive Care" (1984), residency at the A.N.Bakulev Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery (Moscow), from which he successfully graduated in 1980.  Repeated practical internships in leading European cardiac surgery clinics in Italy and Germany

October 1990: I.N. Chicherin performed the first artificial blood circulation during open heart surgery in Kirov region. 

In 1996, he completed postgraduate studies at the A.N.Bakulev National Agricultural Research Center and defended his PhD thesis.

In the late 80s, I. N. Chicherin is the first doctor in Kirov region who used extracorporeal detoxification procedures (hemosorption, plasmapheresis).

Author of 78 scientific publications, including 2 monographs, 12 articles in refereed journals of the Higher Attestation Commission, 3 publications in Western European journals. For the monograph written jointly with academician L. A. Bokeria "New ischemic syndromes", I.N.Chicherin was awarded the Kirov Region Prize in the nomination "Healthcare".
