On the 6th of June, students of Kirov State Medical University participated in a literature quiz “Light of the Genius”, dedicated to the 225th anniversary since A. S. Pushkin’s birthday. University and college teams from all over the city gathered in the House of Friendship with Peoples.
In the course of the game, not only did the participants answer the questions regarding the great Russian poet, writer, and playwright’s life and works, but also took a shot at writing their own poems on topics given by the organization team. Foreign students found out what kind of person A. S. Pushkin was, and felt the love Russian people have for his poetry. They also told about the most popular poets of their homelands.
The pinnacle of the event was “Modern readings”. Quiz participants were reading abstracts from Pushkin’s works. Aida Ramazanova and Chichek Abdullaeva read the well-loved “Tatyana’s letter to Onegin”, and Fares Mahmoud brought joy to attendees by reading “Onegin’s letter to Tatyana”.
There were neither winners nor losers in the quiz, for its purpose was to immerse students of Kirov educational institutions into the beautiful world of Pushkin’s poetry.
It is important to note that A. I. Bardovskaya and A. N. Komarova, the professors at the faculty of the Russian language and Intercultural Communications, and E. V. Sharapova, the head of the Department for International Relations, prepared and accompanied the team, which represented our university with good grace.
