Educational and methodical work
The educational and methodological work of the department is developed, directed and supervised by the head of the Department, Doctor of Medical Sciences O.G. Levanova. The department has 8 employees: head of the department, 3 associate professors, 1 senior lecturer, 2 assistants, senior laboratory assistant.
The main clinical base of the Department of Ophthalmology is the Kirov Clinical Ophthalmological Hospital. The premises of the department are located here: 3 study rooms, an assistant room, a laboratory room. The equipment of the base meets the modern requirements of clinical medicine, which allows students to familiarize themselves with the modern level of ophthalmological practice.

The main purpose of studying at the Department of Ophthalmology of the Kirov State Medical University of the Ministry of Health of Russia is to obtain educational institutions and other knowledge in ophthalmology.
To implement the educational process at the proper level, the department is equipped with modern technical equipment, educational videos, multimedia equipment, teaching aids.

Practical classes on the cycle method for students of the 4th year of the specialty "Medicine" (8th semester of training), "Medicine in a foreign language" (8th semester of training); 4th year of the specialty "Pediatrics" (7th semester of training), 4th year of the specialty "Dentistry" - full-time education (7th semester of training) and a lecture course.

Lectures for students are held in the main lecture halls of universities. The clinical base of the standard of provision in accordance with international standards for the provision of ophthalmic care.
The exceptions are in several cases: introductory test control and obtaining control in the form of an interview and solving situational problems in the classroom, final test control and an interview at the end of the cycle with students. All trainees are tested for practical skills. Students practice practical skills, including on fresh pig's eyes, on the equipment and tools of the Kirov Clinical Ophthalmological Hospital. At the end of the cycle, a test session and a discussion of the educational history of the disease are held.
Methodological materials, medical history studies, tests and situational tasks with response standards, video materials with records of operations with episodic ophthalmological care have been developed on the topics of classes. The use of educational technologies: reading in the form of presentations, classes in the form of business games, the use of video broadcasting of ophthalmic operations with comments from the surgeon and the teacher during practical classes, taking into account classes.
Lectures for residents, cadets of certification cycles are held in the conference halls of the KKOB, the University.
Developed: 9 textbooks, 2 teaching aids, 3 methodological recommendations, 1 monograph, 1 book for ophthalmologists, 1 atlas.
