"Дружба – Dosti" - friendship of Russia and India

      On February 18, 2024, a concert dedicated to the friendship of India and Russia took place at the Herzen Library. The creative program was attended by Indian students of the first and second courses of the Faculty of Foreign Students of Kirov State Medical University, as well as the Indian dance group "Muskurati" under the direction of Elena Evgenyevna Chetverikova. 

      Kirov State Medical University and the Herzen Library co-organised the whole function. The main purpose of the event, in addition to the socio-cultural adaptation of students of the Faculty of Foreign Students and the removal of intercultural and linguistic barriers, was to give every Indian student the opportunity to demonstrate their talents. 

      In his welcoming speech, Acting Rector of Kirov State Medical University Leo Mikhailovich Zheleznov noted that "Indian students filled our cold, prolonged winter with warmth and light."

     The concert audience was touched by the heartfelt lines about love for the motherland and the desire to honourably represent their country in poems by first-year students Saravanan Sanjay and Jadhav Pranil, which they wrote on their own. Anilkumar Kizhakkemparampil Anisha and Nisaruddin Shiba Asna performed the song "Vande Mataram" dedicated to their native country of India. Doiphode Tanvi delighted the audience with her fiery dance, and the second-year students (Mathath Amaya, Anilkumar Kizhakkemparampil Anisha, Ravindran Trisha, Nizaruddin Shiba Asna, Smitha Parvati Lal) charmed everyone with the traditional dance of their native state of Kerala and incendiary Bollywood-style dance. The concert program ended with a joint dance performance of all participants and filled the hall with positive energy! 

We express our gratitude to the Office for Coordination of International Affairs, and in particular, to the head of the Office, Ovsyannikova Janetta Nikolaevna and translator Yekaterina Alekseevna Khodyreva, for participating in the organisation and holding of the event!
